Stats For You

Here's a little stats package anyone with a cgi-bin can use. It doesn't require SSI, ASP, PHP, SQL, or any other fancy, fashionable acronym. Just perl and an image.

It comes in two parts:

• stat.pl
  
  Put this in your cgi-bin and change the variables in the configuration section of the script to tell it which image you want to use. Add an image tag to the HTML of the page you want stats on:

  <img src="cgi-bin/stat.pl">

• statparse.pl
  
  Just edit this script to point to the stats file that stat.pl generates. It will give you a slew - nay, a plethora of semi-useful statistics about who is visiting you and when they are doing it. Unfortunately it will not tell you why they are coming, so odds are that about 75% are looking for porn but ended up clicking the wrong link.
