Here I don't want to end on a down note. This is from my Seattle trip in '97. ![]() November 4, 8:30:45PM
About Blogging I can't do it, I just can't. Not honestly. The gripes I could write here are the same gripes you could read anywhere else. I can't bring myself to be political just because I don't have it in me to be aimlessly partisan. I can't do culture because I'm not hip. (Despite what the masthead says.) I'm not a punk rocker, a counter-culture diva, a gun-toting hick, or a prep-school fascist. Neither Marx nor Smith were right. I don't want traffic. I don't want people linking to me because I'm witty, because I'm not (with any consistancy). Please, God, don't ever let me join a 'clique' or a 'webring' with an upside down question mark in the link. I want to do what interests me; it may make me famous or may make me obscure. I want to believe what's right, not what's popular. I want to be happy, not rich. I wanted to be respected, though not necessarily admired. Last, I just want to have a good night's sleep. I don't know how people around here can survive with the kind of deprivation they don't seem to think twice about. November 4, 3:50:32PM
John Adams? Boo hiss. Not only do I want someone cooler than John Adams; I don't even think the quiz gave me the right founding father. November 4, 3:50:32PM
Roommate etiquette? All I want is for my roommate and his buddy to stop talking at full 'cell-phone' volume 3 feet from my head. I don't care that it's the only place their cell phones work. I don't care what your girlfriend is doing now ... and how about now? "Watcha doin? Nothin'. Just sitting here playing my game." Half the time he is convincing her that he is, in fact, not mad at her. In between these two, the gangsta music they play (even while talking on the phone), and the maniac people running around out in the hall, I'm really starting to lose it. Tonight was supposed to be quiet, thanks. November 2, 6:10:15PM
I hate needles. The tech at the hospital lab didn't get a vein on the first try, so she jabbed the needle farther in a few more times. By that point I was about as white as a sheet. She managed to get it the first try on the other arm but it took me at least 5 minutes to recover to the point I could walk.. November 2, 10:31:42AM
Too Much Caffeine I went and saw 'The Jackass Movie' with some friends. I should have known something was amiss when they checked IDs while getting the ticket and before getting into the theater. So I was treated to the sight of Steve-o launching fireworks out of his butt and Ryan Dunn sticking a matchbox car up his butt, then getting an x-ray (much to the surprise of the technician). There seemed to be a lot of strangely homoerotic bits. Along with the obsession with the butt.. Makes one wonder. Overall it was a sight to behold, but not a sight to behold twice. People really like my car. I guess I don't really blame them. October 30, 8:48:42PM
Yawn... Things pretty boring here, looks like it'll stay that way 'til the weekend. October 26, 3:18:48PM
100mg??? The doc says I should up my dosage to four pills nightly but I'm not so sure, so I'm holding off for awhile. It's been getting harder to sleep, though, and I'm always edgy. We'll see. As a side note, I really love style sheets. I remember the nightmarish tables that I had to draw up to get things neat. Now I can dream up what I want things to look like and actually do them that way instead of just hoping for the best. October 25, 7:24:08PM
A Day Which Will Live In Infamy Charter, who provides the school with internet service, has blocked access to all internet games. So now I will have to find something else to do instead of killing time with UT2k3. I think this will end up being a long semester. Arg. Maybe I'm a little too dependant on UT for my own good. Buffalo is sooooo boring This weekend has sucked bigtime. I haven't been feeling good, and the sun hasn't been out at all. Gray and 40 does not make me want to go outside - I have enough trouble finding something to do outdoors anyways. The puppy is now getting really huge; he's about twice the size as he was here: [Puppy picture]

Timberwolves Served up a Whipping So... Senator Wellstone died today in a plane crash. I was blissfully unaware of this until about 5 minutes before a big test. Don't ever go to a big test when you're in a daze, or high. Naturally it was the only news anywhere here today. It's my dad's birthday - probably not the happiest of birthday presents, because Wellstone was his guy. At least we had fun going to a basketball game courtesy of company tickets. I haven't been to many big public events since last September, so I casually handed my ticket to the the security person. I was momentarily unsure of why my coat pockets had any relevance. The skyline is always so good-looking at night. I wish I'd had my camera. |
