WHAT IS UP WITH THAT STUPID HAND GESTURE, HOME-BOY?

Eleven Arrested After Riots at the U of M

Shop owners near the University of Minnesota were sweeping up broken glass and repairing storefronts Sunday, after a celebration of the Gophers NCAA hockey title win turned into a window-smashing, rock-throwing fracas.

Minneapolis police say they arrested 11 people during the melee.

Minnesota's 5-1 win over New Hampshire happened in Buffalo, New York. But in Dinkytown near the University of Minnesota, police and fire officials say some fans started several small fires, overturned several cars and burned five of them, and broke into at least two buildings. Emergency workers who tried to respond had rocks thrown at them.

Police spokesman Ron Reier called the melee a "near riot situation."

Police say the arrests happened after officers issued several warnings that the crowd should break up. Police used chemical spray to disperse the crowd.
